Full Moon on Deep Waters
This piece is constructed of hand dyed vintage linen, hand dyed cottons and snow dyed fabric. The snow dyeing process is done by preparing the fabric for dyeing and manipulating it on a rack system that I created in my basement. The fabric is then buried in snow and dye powders are sprinkled onto the top of the snow mound. As the snow melts, the dye bonds to the fibers and a watercolor effect appears. It cannot be predicted or repeated, which is what makes this process so exciting. Each panel of this piece measures 9.5” wide X 42” long.It has a sleeve and flat wooden slats for easy hanging.
